A few things are better this year: The Obama Administration is working to reverse the Bush/Cheney regime's idiotic efforts to not really combat HIV/AIDS, and the US is about to join the rest of the developed world and allow HIV-positive people visit the country.But much work needs to be done, and the chief task is to fight the complacency that sets in when an epidemic goes on and on, and when expensive drugs make it manageable in rich countries. Prevention, after all, is still the best—and for some, only—option. Now is not the time to rest or relax. We owe it to all those we lost too soon.
