Two months ago today, we planted our tomato plants for this year, and now they’re doing really well, as in the Instagram photo above. I think that overall they’re doing better than last year’s tomatoes, and that could be at least in part because we didn’t over-plant this year—they had more room to grow.
We’ve also been helped this year by having enough rain. This has meant we haven’t had to remember to water them which, to be honest, is a real help.
Next year we might actually plant some more vegetables, but we can grow salad greens and herbs all year long. In fact, we do.
It’s all a bit of fun, and kind of satisfying to see the fruits of one’s labours—literally. And, it’s one more reason that I love summer so much.
