The video above is a statement from Labour Leader Andrew Little on the Gwyn report on the political use of the NZ Security Intelligence Service by Prime Minister John Key’s office. Andrew Little nails it: "I think that this points to the sleaze and sludge out of the Prime Minister's office and it's high time this was addressed."
The posting of the video on Labour’s Facebook Page sums it up the whole sorry mess:
“An inquiry into allegations the SIS was used for political gain in 2011 has found that there was a smear machine running out of the Prime Minister's Office, designed to attack and undermine National's opponents. There's only one person responsible for this – John Key himself.”Predictably, John Key has switched to attack mode, using his usual dirty politics modes of deflection and denial to try and shift focus off of the wrongdoings of his office and himself. I wonder if he’ll get away with it this time?

It's early in the morning: my mind switched "responsible" and "person"; totally changes the meaning...
Yep, and it shows the inherent danger in forming slogans (which this wasn't, but the principle's the same): They can be misheard or misunderstood in a way that, as you say, totally changes the meaning. And that's without even getting into mockery!
