We’re Number Four—again

New Zealand has the fourth lowest unemployment rate it the world, according to new statistics reported in an NZPA story. The unemployment rate in the December quarter fell to 3.7 percent.

Unemployment rates for youth and Maori remain higher, however. The unemployment rate for Maori fell from 7.6 percent to 7.2 percent. The rate for 20-24 year old workers dropped from 6.8 percent to 6.0 percent, but the rate for teenagers aged 15-19 actually rose from 13 percent to 14.3 percent.

New Zealand’s overall unemployment rate is fourth lowest behind Norway, South Korea and Denmark.
