AmeriNZ 63 – Home from home
Episode 63 is now available, and it's free no matter where you get it from. You can listen to it or download it through the player at the bottom of the post here, or subscribe for free through iTunes here (you must have the free iTunes player installed). You can also listen to it for free through the player on my MySpace page.
I'm back! Did you miss me? I missed doing my podcast, to be honest, and I'm certainly glad to be back. Today I'm going to tell you a bit about my recent trip to the US, then after comments I have a brief personal update and all the usual contact details.
I've called today's episode “Home from Home” because I'm back home from my home. I tell you about that trip and some of my impressions and observations, since this was my first trip back to the US in eight years.
All things considered, the trip went pretty well (though I talk a bit about some things that didn't). I got done what I needed to, and I spent time with friends and family, which was great. I even met a real, live podcaster!
I tell you what it feels like now, with this 12-year-old hold on my life now gone. There's a lot more about the trip, including more observations, on my blog, www.amerinz.com, where photos will be posted soon.
Leave a comment, or you can email me at amerinz(at}yahoo.com or ring my US listener line on 206-339-8413.

Excellent show again! - we missed you! I had the pleasure to visit Chicago last summer and I liked it lots. Great place with very interesting people and with great and famous architecture.
Your stories about Chicago in winter and dealing with your stuff and past were very interesting. I do agree that material things often tie us too much to the ground and getting rid of some of them can be liberating and quite a catharsis.
PS: You ought to have now a review in the German section as well :) And by the way I was Nr13 thanks to a hack into the American itunes section which usually does not allow "foreigners" to leave reviews. So technically I left two of them. But your show is so good, it deserves to be praised twice :)
Welcome home! So glad you were able to get to the US and back safely. Sorry to hear your luggage didn't make it with you. That sucks. Did you have to go through customs with all that stuff? I can't remember if you talked about that or not.
Interesting observations of the things that have changed since you were here last.
Michael: Vielen dank! I saw both reviews--thank you so much!!!
Chicago is one of my favourite cities, actually, and I enjoy going there--even in winter. Well, I probably enjoy it more in summer, actually.
I've been having some of that liberation since I've been back--had things to get rid of here, too.
Thanks again for the two reviews1
Archerr: I don't think I mentioned it anywhere, actually, but I had to go through customs. I had nothing to declare in my carry on, so it was sort of a quick x-ray and I was out. When my suitcases arrived, they, too, had to go through customs clearance, but Air New Zealand took care of all that for me.
