Days busy and lazy

So far, this year has been both active and not—in other words, it’s been a bit like any other year. So far. I’ve bene making plans for things I want to do over the next couple months. Some of them may even happen.

When I published my most recent post this past Thursday, I was already in the midst of plans. After New Year's Eve was over, I looked around my house, saw how clean and tidy it was (or the public areas, anyway…), and I thought it’d be a shame to let it go to waste. So, I invited the family around for dinner on Friday night “before I have a chance to mess up the house again,” I told them. As usual, it was a nice time.

After everyone had left, I sat down to watch some TV, and after a while decided to put on some music videos on YouTube as a kind of a last thing before bed. Instead, I fell asleep in my chair and didn’t wake until nearly 6am. I went to bed, anyway.

A little before 11, my brother-in-law rang and invited me to join him and his partner on an excursion to Raglan, and we could have some lunch while there. That, too, was lovely, and Raglan has a nice vibe about it.

The trouble is, with my weird and broken sleep, I was pretty tired when I got home, and I ended up taking two naps (both a respectable 20 minutes), and I felt better afterward. I had a normal bedtime that night.

Unfortunately, all the lost sleep over the previous week left me quite tired today: The main thing I got done today was a load of washing and I ran the dishwasher (to use free electricity). I considered having another nap, but decided not to.

This coming week, I have a few small things to do to get ready for my trip, including a big one: Grooming Leo. I think it’ll take many hours spread over several days, so tomorrow is the first session, and one in which I hope to get the most done so I can mostly refine things after that.

Longer term—like, February and beyond—I have a few places I want to check out in Hamilton, partly so I can talk about them here on the blog and on the podcast. Those things, also need some preparation work that, conveniently, I first need to do for my trip.

So, the year may have started out like pretty much any other year, but there’s a lot more still to come this month and next. I think I’d better prioritise sleep, too.

If a 20-minute nap is "respectable," what is a 30-minute nap? Hedonistic?
