AmeriNZ #25 – Clean Up

Episode 25 is now available, and it's free no matter where you get it from. You can listen to it or download it through the player at the bottom of the post here, or subscribe for free through iTunes here (you must have the free iTunes player installed). You can also listen to it for free through the player on my MySpace page.

It’s episode 25 and my first car-cast! I feel like JayT. Actually, it’s the first time I’ve recorded outside of my house. A bit noisy in spots, but these things can be sometimes.

I begin by talking about why I’m, in the car today. Then it’s on to our storm damage (photo on my blog), and dealing with getting it fixed. I talk about returning to the part-time job after being away for three weeks, and the things that have happened since. I also talk about puppy training, including some things that surprised me.
It’s not all about me, though, as I talk a bit about Ponsonby and the value of non-mega bookstores. That goes into a mention of the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car” which I first heard mentioned on the Democracy Now! podcast.
No discussion of comments this week, since I was driving while recording. Special shout-outs this week to Arick West of the The Beat SF, CallBox 7, Kalvin of Hello Waffles and another podcaster.
The ending song is “True Love Waits” by Tom Smith from the Podsafe Music Network.
Leave a comment, or send an email to me at amerinz[at}yahoo.com.

Why wasn't the tree removal company responsible to the additional damages they did to your home? They should have had the proper equipment and knowledge to remove it safely without inflicting additional damage to your home, or is that a totally American way to view the world?

You will have to let us know what you thought of "Michael Tolliver Lifes". I thought it was very good overall but a little slow in the middle and just a bit short. It left me wanting more. It's buy far his most graphic book when it comes to sex. I have a good friend that I lent all my "Tales of the Cities" books to and I'm sure I’m going to have to explain a few things to her after she reads it. Like that little brown bottle in Michaels Fridge from the original series. After her second time reading them, she finally asked what the bottle was for.

I think you should have a podcast on puppy training. I'm sure it would be a major hit. As you talked about issues that you had with Sythe (sp), I could totally relate with the same issue we have with our dogs.

Cool car cast!

Your dog is your child and it is expected that you do all the things for him like you'd be raising a child. Nothing odd about that.

I want to get Michael Toliver Lives too! I've read the whole series and need to read that one as well.

Too bad you don't have a specific gay book store but these days you don't really need one. You can get all the books you want online.

I saw Who Killed The Electric Car just recently. Great documentary about how the government and oil companies ruined the electric car or any chance for better fuel efficient cars.

Sorry we missed you on the group show but dealing with the insurance is more important. Thanks for joining the discussion on the comments section. I love hearing your side of it.

I hope everything works out with the insurance and the house gets fixed with no problems.

Larken: I agree with you about the tree thing. I turned it over to the loss assessor, who's working as the project manager for the whole thing. It's up to them to sort it out.

You know, I probably shouldn't admit this, but I only read the first three "Tales" books. I think I want to read the others before "Michael Tolliver Lives". Nigel's chomping at the bit to start it, but he's being very good and finishing the book he was reading first. Such restraint!

I'm sure I'll mention more puppy training as time goes on--I won't be able to stop myslef!

Archerr: Yeah, Jake is like a child (literally in some ways). But I do know that he's a dog and has "dog needs".

What I liked about a gay bookstore was the special events they hold (author appearances, for example). But you're right: In the age of the interwebs we don't really "need" bookstores anymore, but I still miss them.

Considering you guys were mostly talking about US "Big Brother", I wouldn't have had much to say on the group show, probably. So, maybe things worked out best for everyone.

Great Car Cast Arthur. I'm glad you are loving and using your new portable recorder.

Sorry to hear about the tree drama. I hate dealing with that kind of stuff. Or really, anything to do with contractors around the house. I'm always afraid I'm going to either get ripped off or they are going to screw something up while they are working.

I'll have to check out the new Tales of the Cities book. I've read all of the others and the earlier books are my favorites.

Go Zack on Oz Big Brother. But sadly I think he's gone this week along with Zoran. What will Billy do with out Zack around?
