Why I prefer NZ to Australia

There are a few reasons why I prefer New Zealand over Australia. This is one of the bigger reasons…

I know, right? I've often said that Australia is filled with things that will poison you, kill you, eat you or merely gut you. And then there's the dangerous wildlife, too. Seriosly, I hate spiders of any sort, but I couldn't live with the huge—or merely hugely dangerous—ones that Australia has.

And don't forget all the deadly snakes in Australia!

New Zealand has no snakes of any kind, and only one native species of potentially deadly spider (related to an Australian and an American one), but it's tiny (by Aussie standards) and rarely seen. There's an Australian spider that's become established in NZ, but it's bite isn't normally fatal.

As an aside, the spiders used in the movie "Arachnophobia" were native NZ non-venomous spiders known as the Avondale Spider. I worked with someone who grew up in Avondale and claimed to have played with the spiders when she was a child. What, couldn't her parents afford real toys?! Yech...

I wish this had come with a warning; after living in Cameroon for a short stint with my Grandparents, 20 ahem years ago, I have a strong case of Arachnophobia.

I am so creeped out right now I am sitting on my feet with the shivers and wishing I had every light on in my apartment so there were NO shadows!

Thanks!
