He went, he maintained his positions ... This opening paragraph from a piece in the Washington Post best sums it up:

>>His
visit with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto was surprisingly statesmanlike, but when he stepped to the podium in Phoenix, we were reminded that he hasn't changed.<<

The trip to Mexico was to reassure white swing voters that he's not a nut. (The same is true of his "out reach" to black voters. He's not really doing that. He was trying to convince swing voters he's not a
racist.) But the speech in Arizona reinforced everything people worry about.

Can Trump still win? Of course he can. The race will almost certainly tighten because that's what happens in presidential races. And there will be a string of days or even weeks where all the news on Clinton will be bad.

But in the end I still think Trump self destructs because that's the type of person he is.Jason Peaconoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34249799.post-76663200909834668092020-07-14T12:20:05.689+12:002020-07-14T12:20:05.689+12:00Last poll I saw him at 9%. Whether he did or didn't talk to the MEX prez re the wall is irrelevant. Trump could most definitely win. 538 had HRC up at 89.2% on Aug 10 , now 73.1, down four points since yesterday. She's trying to run out the clock, and it's too early.rogerogreennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34249799.post-30666773919587274192020-07-14T12:20:03.659+12:002020-07-14T12:20:03.659+12:00I think the support for Johnson among votes will s...I think the support for Johnson among votes will shrink as the election gets closer. PLUS the rampant sexism.
PLUS I want Donald to lose REALLY badly in his home state, so voting for Stein, or Johnson (actually my second choice) won't happen.
But shouldn't it be "the least of four evils"? I've never voted for a third party for any race except once: In 1980 I voted for John Anderson for president. If I knew then what I know now, I would've voted for President Carter.Arthur Schenck (AmeriNZ)http://amerinz.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34249799.post-55519233994683687792020-07-14T12:19:59.238+12:002020-07-14T12:19:59.238+12:00I have often found myself voting for third party c...I have often found myself voting for third party candidates. In 2012, immensely disappointed with Obama's Bush-continuation foreign policy, I voted for Johnson, the only anti-war candidate on the ballot. I like Johnson, he's good on many issues (not all). And I've always liked his running mate, former Governor Weld. I'd love to vote for them, bolstering the Libertarians, hoping they could hasten the demise of the Republican Party as it has become. But, my fear of the disaster of Trump is just too great.Tim Drakenoreply@blogger.com
