The first sight of 60

Yesterday I went to the doctor for a routine visit to renew my prescriptions and generally check in. The visit went well enough, except for one thing that happened before the actual appointment: I saw a form.

I shared the photo above on my personal Facebook, and said:
At the doctors for routine check/prescription renewal, was feeling good—until I got the slip to give to the doctor and saw my age printed, for the first time, as it happens. Suddenly I don’t feel well…
I was joking about the last part, of course, but the first part was true: It was the first time I’ve seen my age printed anywhere. I lasted two and a half months, which may be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. To me, it’s neither—it’s just a fact.

Nevertheless, it did give me pause, as I thought it might. Of all the ages I’ve been so far, this one has been the hardest to adjust to, but only when I think about it or am reminded as I was yesterday. There will be more reminders to come, and I’m sure I’ll get used to it. I just hope it's before the next Big Birthday arrives.

  1. You is old.
I is OLDER, so there's that.
I realized that 60 is old because if you're 50, you could hit 100. If you're 55, there's a remote chance of hitting 110. But it's VERY unlikely that a 60 y.o. will reach 120. Enjoy your time, youngun.
