AmeriNZ #7 – Secrets

Episode 7 is now available, and it's free no matter where you get it from. You can listen to it or download it through the player at the bottom of the post here, or subscribe for free through iTunes here (you must have the free iTunes player installed). You can also listen to it for free through the player on my MySpace page.

There are some things that bloggers and podcasters don’t, or shouldn’t, reveal. Many don’t use their real names (I do), and many use a nickname (well, I do that, too). I won’t talk specifics about how I make money, but there are other things to say about it.

Neil Finn is a doofus. The American Ambassador says interesting things. Comments galore (I loves me my comments!). New Frappr Mappers! I’ve added a link on my blog to Amazon to make it easier for my American friends to buy books I mention or recommend. If you buy a book through the link on my site, I might even make a coin or two out of it.

Finally, a mashup—the first mashup I’ve made. Yeah, I know that these things are usually done to a dance music beat.

Mentioned this week:

Nik in Paris wedding episode
Also, if you haven’t done so yet, check out Kalvin at Hello Waffles. I kid around, but he really is one of my “most favourite” podcasters.
Next podcast is on Tuesday New Zealand time.

You know, it's strange, I don't remember why it is that you don't post your picture. I absolutely loved the mash-up. It was wonderful, and I'm sure Archerr will be suing you because of his Creative Commons License that you have probably now violated that you are using Amazon which creates a link to monetizing. For SHAME!

Actually, I've never been so grateful I didn't show up for Archerr's gang bang as on that particular occasion. A lady's got to have her privacy. Who am I kidding?

I actually haven't signed up for your frappr map because I have a picture of me on it, and not some symbol like you or Archerr, and I feel it's not fair to unleash my ghastly visage upon such a landscape of graphic artistry. Don't worry, I don't want to sound like I'm pressuring you to put up a picture. Please don't feel as if I am.

Loved the show...you kiwi genius you...

Oh and BTW maybe you will be the next hirsute pursuit but on the vanilla side. http://www.myspace.com/hirsutepursuitmusic

You had me rolling in stitches listening to the Archerr mashup! Well done.

Thanks also for commenting on my podcast. I've been enjoying your show for a while.

I understand how you feel about the accent. I talked about it a lot at the beginning; funny coincidence it came up on the episode you listen too.

In any case I love your accent, its sexy. It does sound more kiwi than American to me... but that's just my take.

Take care, Nik

I listened to the whole episode and had things to comment on but as soon as I heard that mash-up from my show, I forgot everything! I LOVED that mash-up. Of course I'll have to play it on my show. hehehe

Oh, but I do agree that some things bloggers and podcasters shouldn't share because of privacy and because there are some crazies out there who might steal my identity or get me in trouble.

Kalvin: I haven't talked about the photo thing in a long time, but I did in an older post. More to come on this subject next week.

Glad you liked the mashup--which I wouldn't have done had I been on the show, of course.

You don't have to have a photo to be on Frappr--I have two Frappr Mapprs without photos. I use my podcast album art for everything, like Archerr, as a sort of marketing thing. That, and I don't actually have a photo right now.

Did you notice I changed the comments to a pop-up? That was for you, dear; this way, you don't have to click "back" to look-up something in the post, which apparently gave you some difficulty in an earlier comments section. ;-)

Nik: Thanks for listening! I've been listening to you for awhile, but, to be honest, only subscribed at the time of the wedding episode I mentioned, and that is a funny coincidence! As for accents, what can I say? We Americans are suckers for accents, and I find yours quite alluring.

Archerr: Glad you liked the mashup! Actually, I thought you would.

As for the withhold/divulge conundrum, I think I'm going to be talking about some other aspects of all this in future podcasts.

Great episode. Your show just continues to amaze me. I can't stop listening.

And I'm SO glad I wasn't on Archer's Gangbang podcast this week. I would have been speechless after listening to it.

Tim: Thanks for the kind words!

I agree with you (and Kalvin, too): I think I'm glad I had to miss this week's group show; I would've spent my time giggling like a little kid. Funny how that episode put the moniker "gangbang" back into its original context!

cool - I've never been part of a mash-up before, thanks for popping my mash up cherry :-)

I think it's funny how everyone's saying "oh I'm glad I wasn't on that show". I don't understand the big deal.

Michael: Glad to have given you your first mashing! It was fun to do.

I don't know if this will help, but I probably would've struggled on Archerr's show last week because sex is a subject I never talk about except in the abstract. That's got to do with my upbringing--the influence of family, community, church, school--in which repression was the expected behaviour. That was one topic that was mostly forbidden, even in the abstract. For me, and probably others, it takes a long time to undo and unlearn all that.

Is "tall poppy syndrome" present in gay bars? Is it something along the lines of, "Hey that guy over there is way too hot, we must ignore him."

TBE: Sadly, no, the beautiful are still more likely to get the most admirers...
